For Kenney, Integrated Bio-Tecture Design (IBD) represents a combination of highly creative design principles, environmental sustainability, healthy living, and knowledge sharing.

Kenney joined forces with Will Eastlake at IBD in 2013, after previously studying architecture together at the University of Canberra. He has a B. Arch (2006) and B.Sc. Env Design (2004), also studying abroad to Finland in this time. After graduating, Kenney worked for 5 years in Canberra with the award winning architecture firm DJAS. Here he gained valuable experience across a diverse range of projects, including multi-level offices buildings, AIS training facilities and high-end residential. Kenney draws on this technical experience and the extensive travelling through, Europe, Asia, and North America into practice at IBD.

A lover of nature and the built environment alike, Kenney aims to create harmony between the two, embracing biophilic design principles and natural building; marrying that with latest technology and building science in a wholistic view of care for the client and environment.

To make natural building more accessible, Kenney and Will founded Mudtec (, creating compressed earth bricks for the construction market. Their bricks now appear in a series of houses and landscapes within the Narara Ecovillage and along the east coast of NSW.

Kenney is also particularly interested in bamboo as a building material, and investigates this further with Will, in their other business Lucid Space Design, creating large scale art, stages, and temporary structures ( Kenney is also the current Secretary of the Bamboo Society of Australia.
